Voges 4th at ITU Cross Worlds

AoT athlete Blake Voges had a banner day Saturday at the ITU Cross World Championships in Extremadura, Spain, registering a 4th place in Men 25-29. Making the result even more impressive was Blake’s compromised winter training regimen – He spent 3 months in earthquake-rocked Haiti, rebuilding school houses and working with other volunteers on various humanitarian projects. Upon returning to the US, Blake hit training full force, and was quickly back up to speed.

Just hours after finishing, Blake was already looking forward to the next races on the schedule: “Being a part of the inaugural ITU Cross World Championships in Spain was an honor. Although preparation this winter created unique challenges, I knew [AOT coach Rick Wetherald] had me in the best possible shape on the start line. What a perfect way to start the season; this one will be fun! Perhaps another trip to Europe will be on the race schedule!”

His result in Spain kicks off a promising summer schedule of road, mountain and Xterra racing. Look for Blake to be placing high at an Xterra event near you this summer.
